JUNIOR WELLS, app. mid 1960's

Amos"Little Junior"/"Junior" Wells, was born
in Memphis(Shelby Co),Tennessee, on Dec.9,1934.
He was born Amos Blackmore,and early interested in
music, taught himself harmonica to play for tips in West
Memphis,AR,area since 8 years of age.In 1946 later with
Dave Myers/Louis Myers,and by the end 40's with Muddy
Waters,where he replaced Little Walter in Muddy Waters Band.
In 1953-54 he recorded with Eagle Rockers,States label,and
again 1954 on Chess label with Muddy Waters Band.In 1955
he married Zearline McBeck.From 1958-1972, he worked with
Buddy Guy,and made recordings on various labels: Shad/Profile,
Chief,Chess a.o.In 1966 he did the famous Delmark album
'Hoodoo Man Blues' - a genuine gem.In the late 60's and early
70's he was busy in Europe,touring with Canned Heat and The
Rolling Stones. Junior Wells has been a very active bluesman
ever since,and continues touring the world and releasing
wonderful albums,the most recent on Telarc label.
After being comatized from a stroke, Junior Wells died on
Januar 15, 1998. - Blues will never be the same...
