For 12 years, Julio Razquin worked with one of Canada's leading importers and distributors of giftware. Throughout that time he designed various products, assisted in the process of product development, and designed and developed their first website. The giftware industry demands a great deal of flexibility and experience, which when combined properly, should ensure that the suppliers meet the various demands of the widely differing demographic groups that represent potential markets. For Julio Razquin, this task begins very early on, right on the drawing board.
With such an intimate knowledge of giftware and the various materials used in this industry, Julio's experience shows through his designs, which offer a wonderful blend of eye-catching esthetics, structural integrity, and practical functionality.
This design was commissioned by Abbott of England Limited, and was developed to in order to solve a recurring breakage problem with a previously existing similar item in their product line. Julio's design not only solved the breakage problem, but also gave the item a fresh and folky personality that made this an outstanding piece in sales figures as well.
Yet another design commissioned by the aforementioned company. This garden hook was manufactured in cast iron. In total, three different hooks were designed as a series within a product line, and all three became great sellers. ![]()
This design shows a wall plaque with one of its interchangeable pieces, in this case a pot holder. ![]()
Intended to be manufactured in polyresin, this design shows a charming recipe holder.
Another piece which was to be manufactured in polyresin, this shows one of a series of animal motif figures.
