| January 7 - 11 During this first full week back to school after Christmas we will be reading The Mitten by Jan Brett. We will also be reading several other books by the same author. We will be making mittens to hang ou our "mittten tree", writing mitten stories, and completing a class graph on our favorite color of mitten and whether or not we would rather wear mittens or gloves. We will also be acting out the story of "The Mitten". |

| January 14 - 16 This week we have been working more on our writing skills. We will give a practice writing assessment on the subject of our class. We have been reviewing our math because of the math assessment being given on Tuesday of this week. We have been testing this week for the assessment and report cards. We will talk about Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ruby Bridges. We will write a paper on how we wanted to see the world become a better place. |

| January 22 - 25 During this week we will continue to test the children. We will talk more about Martin Luther King on Tuesday. We will focus these four days on snowmen. We will do some activites surrounding winter and snowmen. We will do an activity on melting ice cubes. This should be really fun. We will see who can melt their ice cube first by doing different acitivites with them. |
