Yliopistokatu

Yliopistokatu is Finnish for University Street. It is the location of the Linnanmaa campus, as well as the Linnanmaa student housing.
Finns drive on the right side of the road, just like Americans. The confusing part is that there seems to be a distinct lack of yellow lines everywhere you go.
Another view of the street. This time, behind the trees, you can just make out one of the students housing buildings.
I lived in the Yellow Block. Other options included the Green Block, the Red Block, and the Blue Block. The Green Block and the Blue Block house laundry facilities, and the Red Block houses a TV lounge. The Yellow Block houses nothing, but the flats are nicer there, aside from the color.
We can take the lift, if it is working, up to the 8th floor, where I live. Here is our kitchen. I took a picture with the cupboards open so you could see that the cupboards above the sink are actually drying racks. We just wash our dishes, throw them up there to dry, and then take them down when we get hungry again. I loved that thing. If I ever design a house without a dishwasher, I'm going to put in drying racks above the sink.
This is the potty. Ewww. Try not to look at the bowl (it's really more stained than dirty, we promise), and instead notice the top-o'-the-tank flush lever and low water level. Both took some getting used to.
