you blow the gossamer from my cocoon
  and it too melts away
my wings unfold ... delicate, fragile

  but they are just wings
  without a destination
  pointlessly existing - until now

you breathe life into this body
you pull me out of my cocoon
you show me my home - my destination

  my place to land
  when I stop spinning
so that I can rest my wings

  in your heart
  in your love
  in your life
  the attic grew
  when we stored ourself away
  our treasures got boxed up
  too precious to leave behind

where did all the years go?
  vague memories now, yet
  every moment cut fresh
  like flowers from the garden

  we don't need the memories
  packed - saved - cherished
  today is enough and tomorrow
to fill the rooms of our heart

  benches are for waiting
I've waited all my life, sitting here or there
  often with my mind looking
word watching, the way others people-watch

  the subtle roar of life
  filters through my space
  an orchestra of sounds
  as people live and breathe

what moment is the most important?
  this one? or this?
I wait to catch the first glimpse of you-
  will that be it?

when I see you striding towards me
  finally and again
I reach out to touch you - hold you
  and smile and wait
