Chapter Eight

THE VEIL OF FORGETFULNESS

AND DUALITY

 "Joan!"

This call awakened me about 3 a.m. Although bed lying in bed next to my husband, obviously he heard nothing since his light snoring continued unabated. I realized that I had heard the call with my inner ear. In response I thought, I am here. What do you want? Silence. But I knew what I heard as I had heard the same call in the same manner in 1966.

Who was calling? At the time I thought it was an extra-terrestrial or spiritual guide, but now I realize that it was an aspect of myself in faster vibrations. Why the call when there was no further contact? From a deep knowing within me, I recognized that it was to establish a clearer channel for a merging of my oscillations with those of multivibrational aspects of myself, which would enable me to more easily tap a source of advanced information.  The clearing of this channel would likewise help me to psychically access the Collective Cosmic Consciousness, that pool of unlimited information and wisdom. The call was confirmation to me of (a) this other aspect of myself, and (b) reinforced the concept of my Mind’s accessibility to many frequencies when not barred by my now quiescent, sleeping brain.

Regardless of what vibrational frequency we may occupy, it is essential to appreciate that we co-exist in all of these vibrational frequencies. This chapter provides a few of the fundamental rudiments of our beingness.

Before we humans began to descend from the faster vibrations into the more earthly ones, we were as naïve and innocent as babies. We had not totally slipped into the slower vibrations of Earth and were still semi-ethereal. But the more time we spent here, the more we became enchanted with Earth and chose to become a part of the experience. Our aspirations first drew and then held us in the slower Earth frequencies.

Early Lemurians did not reincarnate as they lived long, spiritual lives as semi-ethereal beings. Over thousands of years as Lemuria began sinking and the lands of Atlantis began rising, the Atlantean race appeared, also not fully encased in the slower vibrations of physical bodies when first incarnating. Eventually Atlanteans, enticed by the various physical aspects of Earth, gradually descended into slower vibrations and by this time were being joined by Lemurians, who were also influenced and drawn into these slower frequencies.

In the slower vibrations, human memories were curtained from our consciousness, resulting in a "veil of forgetfulness," and our psychic third eyes closed, causing loss of contact with our Mind/Higher Selves, gateway to our multivibrational selves in faster vibrations.

A few Minds did not totally descend into Earth’s slower vibrations, but continued as guides and helpers.

Other multivibrational selves in faster oscillations realized that those who had chosen to explore Earth could be enmeshed in these restrictive frequencies for the lifetime of Earth. Our multivibrational selves eventually designed an escape mechanism through systems of karma and reincarnation that provided opportunities to experience and struggle until our passion to remember began smoldering. There is also the possibility that they did not create this process of salvation entirely through their own efforts, but were inspired by one of those unexplained, quantum leaps of latent, potential energies of Love.

The veil may be considered to be the action. Evolution and the metamorphoses of karma and reincarnation were the reactions of trial and error slowly culminating as catalysts to kindle the fire of our dead bed of memory-coals; to remember when in the slower frequencies who we truly are. The unknown potentials of Love are never lost, and resonance alone truly glimmered as a beacon ever beckoning us home, a place in our cellular memories that never lay totally silent.

During these same progressive stages, our emotions, an unknown factor, were awakening. At times our spiritual, rational selves were in control. At other times our emotions steered our ship until our feelings finally solidified into active features of our physical being, splitting according to vibrational resonance into the varied positive energies of Love or the many diverse effects of fear.

On a metaphysical level, this is the karma that we select prior to re-entering a human body, and if we are to expand our greatest potential in a lifetime, karmic factors weigh heavily. To reap the greatest harvest from our participation, it may be auspicious to ascertain the lessons that we set before us, which can often defeat us if we wallow in self-pity and negativity because we do not understand.

THE VEIL OF FORGETFULNESS:

It was about midway during Atlantean times when humanity began developing personalities of a dual nature and were succumbing to the human-made temptations existent on Earth. Full recall or memory lies within faster vibrations and gradually we did not remember co-existing lifetimes or our descent through the vibrations. We even forgot our source, Love. Before this we had full memory. In descending into the slower frequencies, our bodies became physical and our brains, also physical organs, blocked our Minds. This barrier is commonly referred to as "the veil of forgetfulness."

Before the veiling and sense of duality, we had little incentive to stretch ourselves, to seek new horizons, and to improve ourselves. Before the veiling, we had little emotion-- neither love nor hate, passion nor compassion, no diverse societies, no disharmony in government, no slavery, no positions of power. In the faster vibrations when we were semi-ethereal, we experienced little pain, and if we did injure our bodies, our Minds were so available that we utilized Thought for immediate healing. We did not use our sexual organs for gratification, control or abuse. We knew no fear so diseases did not plague our bodies due to blocked negative emotional energies.

In our naiveté we were unable to recognize vibrations or influences of entities from other planets inhabiting faster frequencies or those comparable to Earth. These entities seeking followers were able to infiltrate and intermingle their vibrations and Thoughts with a few humans. They were influential entities, like those spoken of in The Book of Enoch and The Book of Jubilee. These beings were seeking self-fulfillment, power, devotees, and material wealth.

Slowly they were able to influence some of us who began to direct our lives in such a manner that we trespassed against the rights of others. It wasn’t difficult for them to orchestrate this as many of us had become more drawn to the, as yet, unexplored sensory gratification available on Earth. We began striving to be better than others, to become leaders, and in some instances, to be worshipped or adored. We discovered a type of satisfying euphoria resulting from our actions.

At first those of us who were conducting our lives in such a manner felt uneasy in harming or manipulating others. As can happen today, if we act in a certain manner long enough, eventually our discomfort becomes comfortable.

In order to compete, Egos slowly evolved out of our desires and ambitions. Egos are tools of personal survival.

Over hundreds of years of Earth time, separations began occurring among the masses: between the haves and have-nots, the compassionate and the selfish, we who desired to continue to evolve into faster vibrations and we who liked the status quo.

We who chose to stay the course, to continue seeking to evolve into something held in our cellular memories, although not quite recalled, could not withstand the actions or Thoughts of the others as we had never had to defend ourselves before. Gradually we too developed Egos in order to survive for if we lost our bodies we could not inhabit Earth.  Our emotions, which can bless or damn us, were huge factors in the evolvement of our Egos.

Again we are speaking of thousands of years for egos to fully develop. We are covering thousands of years in Earth time and there were many experiments, techniques, events, and occurrences of great magnitude involved. Through loss of our psychic third eye, except for primal survival instincts, we lost much of our intuitive abilities, our mental telepathy, and our capacity to directly communicate with enlightened beings in faster vibrations. 

The veiling and duality slowly proceeded until they created a total barrier for those of us in slower vibrations. After our brains blocked our Minds, we were subject to pain, fear, and shortened lifetimes because of death, injury, and disease. We could only access our Minds through dreams and special self-disciplines. To a vast extent we could no longer mentally communicate and intuition greatly receded. With our spiritual eyes closed, we intellectually created an illusion of time and space.

We lost any consciousness of Love, the essence of our source within and any sense of immortality. Consequently, overwhelmed and fearful we easily could be controlled by others and entities in faster vibrations. Priesthoods sprang up to rescue us from fear of mortality and pain; political leaders and dictators greedily pandered to our weaknesses and we surrendered our freedom and self-responsibility.

After the veiling and evolvement of our Egos, emotions dramatically plunged us through the highs and lows of our lives, resulting in a keener sense of duality and more limitations:

(a) Because we could no longer remember our Oneness, we created gods with a resultant priesthood who controlled and manipulated us according to the caprices of the gods, as fabricated by the priests.

(b) Because we could no longer remember Love, we became jealous and possessive of mates, children and parents, projecting our own lack onto others in an illusion of what others who loved us should be.

(c) We made possessions out of our children, or used them as servants or slaves to serve; there were times when we hated them as being heavy burdens to raise and feed.

(d) We lost a sense of immortality and, in our fear to stay alive, easily could be intimidated and controlled by others whom we believed to be stronger.

(e) Love vibrations between a man and a woman became warped into tools of lust or control, and set husbands against wives and wives against husbands.

(f) Out of loneliness and need for love, we developed beautiful, romantic illusions of what lovers should be.

(g) Because of blocked sexual energies created by negative emotions, sexual ailments and diseases mushroomed.

(h) Out of ambitious desires to be rich and powerful, we enslaved, stole, killed and impoverished others.

(i) Instituted in response to our elitist perspective, we created classes of people and categories of controllers and rulers over lesser subjects.

(j) Fear and ignorance helped our brains block our Minds from latent energies with which to heal our bodies, emotions and mend the linkage to Love and immortality.

(k) Out of lack, or fear of loss or insecurity we more fully developed emotions of rage, depression, revenge, destruction, total disharmony, distrust, and wars ad infinitum.

(l) We severed guidance from faster vibrations and other facets of ourselves.

Entities who inhabit faster vibrations are not subject to this veil.

DUALITY:

Over time our perspectives of life were colored by a sense of duality within us caused by extreme emotions of love and fear. These opposites, acting as motivators, cause us to jump, stumble or gently flow from one adventure to another. Influenced by our feelings, our Thoughts can create mental, emotional, and physical heavens or hell for us until we merge our Egos with our higher consciousness. Any vestige of fear can sidetrack our Thoughts and can cause our brains to imprison our Minds so that there are no openings to higher states of awareness.

We may ask, "How did this come about? What happened that created this division or sense of separation within us?"

Metaphysical literature offers various reasons as to why and how reincarnation and karma affect us. The Secret Doctrine says there were ascended beings who wished us to evolve much faster than we would have, had there been no designed catalysts to propel us forward. They instituted the process of reincarnation, karma and the veil of forgetfulness so that we would learn by trial and error. It was their contention that in that manner we would evolve back to God in quickening, vibrational rates faster than if we were to exist as complacent beings for millions of years in almost a level of stagnation.

The Law of One, a channeled book, says that polarity (duality) is a natural law on Earth, and we must make a choice as whether to be in service-to-others or in service-to-self. Many Eastern religions refer to this as the Right Hand Path (the righteous one) and the Left Hand Path (the unrighteous one). Christianity refers to it as good and evil; so do Judaism and many other ancient religions.

In medieval times Satan came to personify the evil in us, and figures such as Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, Quan Yin, Mohammed and a multitude of others personified the good that each of us can reach.

Christianity, in its early establishment under the Roman Catholic Church, instead of accepting the concept of reincarnation preferred to institute a new process known as "purgatory."

Will these teachings lead us astray from becoming a Christed one? Perhaps for many, the fundamental religions embrace the best doctrines as some of us need strict, rigid boundaries within which to stay; it may be difficult to abide within the laws of the Ten Commandments, let alone practice the psychological interpretations that Jesus provided. On the other hand, there are focuses in the metaphysical clime of today that go a step further in speaking continuously of "Unconditional Love." We desire to demonstrate Unconditional Love, but first we have to comprehend it.

I am once again taking a radical approach simply because when I analyze our past teachings and the results, I do not find them to be as valid today. I truly believe that the foundation upon which to base our lives and look to as guidance is the principle that the Christ is quoted as saying to be the greatest law:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your intellect. That command is first and most important. But the second is equal to it: Love your neighbor as yourself. In these two commands are comprised the whole law and the prophets."

In essence this is saying to stay balanced. It is not all one way, such as totally loving God, or self or another, but to stretch ourselves to flow easily from one to another, which in actuality is living Unconditional Love.

We do not dedicate ourselves totally to merging with God. As participants in Eastern religions in other lifetimes, we have spent hundreds of lifetimes in the stillness of meditation, contemplating our source and seeking Nirvana. We are still here.

It is not totally in sacrificing our lives in service to God or humanity. For hundreds of lifetimes, thousands of us have lived in total self-sacrifice, dedicating our lives to God as priests and nuns in service to humanity. We are still here.

It is certainly not in totally dedicating our lives strictly to satisfying our own selfish, self-centered whims to the detriment of all others for we have done that. And we are still here!!

I suggest that in fulfilling all three aspects of the quoted law does place us in a position of being able to demonstrate a type of love that is divine and all-inclusive.

We have the Golden Rule that has been advocated by our greater teachers and rightly so. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Essentially this is declaring, "Do not trespass against another" for this interferes with another’s free will.

What about the Ten Commandments? Are they not laws to keep us from trespassing against another?

There can be no recognizing goodness without experiencing some darkness. Darkness can mean:

a) Absence of Light, which can denote lack of information; or

b) Vibrations of such a nature that they can create pain and suffering, which are manifestations of fear coupled with like Thoughts.

There is no devil as an entity, except in the images created by our brains that are blocking the total information available in our Minds. Thus such blocking helped to create the illusion of a duality of evil, personified in Lucifer, Satan or the devil, and good is characterized in the form of angels and archangels.

We can never know what form of duality another is working on, and so we can never know the truth of another except that we are spiritual beings having chosen to the experience all of the rigors and challenges of Earth.
