2002 has been a year
Of joy beyond compare.
With lots of shows and memories,
The answer to our prayers.

From Spring right on through New Year’s Eve
You toured both near and far.
Delighting us with melodies
And strumming your guitar.

It was a year of changing mood
Beginning with despair,
Unceasing since that tragic day
That caught us unaware.

 Our innocence is gone for good,
The memory is strong.
Our lives move ever forward, though,
And decency lives on.

 Especially in America
Which makes us very proud.
Too bad our founding fathers
Cannot see what has evolved.

We’re sure they hear you singing, though,
Your patriotic song -
America – and you can bet 
They stand and sing along!
