It's easy to be living excited for Christ when big things are going on, when you're reaching people, when God gives you an important task...but its another thing when God chooses to be silent, and give you everyday life. It's then when God is teaching you perseverance. When you're doing mundane tasks, when God decides to take the spotlight off you for awhile. When you aren't doing things for the church in front of other people or something of that nature, are you still reaching higher for God?
If God brings you to that point...the thing you have to ask yourself is this. "Am I more concerned of my service to God rather than God Himself?" Always desire to be closer to God rather than only desiring to serve God. If you push to be closer to the Lord, He'll give you all the service you could ever want. If you only desire to serve God, and not strive to be closer to Him, you'll never get higher than you are now. You can be compared to one who finds the lost, then points them in the right direction, leaving them to find their way from there. You aren't moving forward, but you're telling others to. If you desire to be closer to Him, and are more focused on God than His service, then you can be compared to one who takes the lost by the hand, leading them step-by-step to where they need to be. You follow Christ, and you lead others along to follow Him also.
Are you a leader by heart, leading others to Christ? Or do you just simply say "Yeah, I know God. He's that way." and continue to walk your own path?
Be not simply hearers of the Word, but doers of the Word.
