Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. The savage are intellectually children who make grotesque faces, become emotional, strike out with their hands and feet, and conduct themselves as the kicking and screaming brats they were as children.
If examined from the top, organized violence, such as war conducted by states against each another, is a "Mongolian fire drill" of epic proportions carried out by ants engaged in a complex dance, in order to demonstrate the rightness of their ideas by setting their neighbors house on fire, and killing his children.
Seen from the middle, it is the father barricading his children in their bedrooms and shooting tear gas through their window, or running through the house blasting cockroaches off the wall with a 12-gauge shotgun. While it is only a "police action" it is still madness because the state is using violence to teach its children that violence is not acceptable.
Seen from its most basic level, violence is the school-yard bully picking on smaller, weaker children, so that no one will notice that it is the bully himself who is small, weak and afraid. And, it is on this basic level that the whole panorama of human violence can be best observed and explained: violent behavior is a character defect in homo sapiens and as such serves no useful purpose.
Therefore, the nove humano condemns violence on every level, whether it is war between nations, the government against its citizens, or bullies against smaller children. Nonetheless, we advocate self-defense against the perpetrators of violence wherever they may be found. Hence the necessity for the martial arts.
When it comes to the martial arts we are faced with a paradox: real martial arts are chiefly concerned with efficiently dispatching an adversary. The best forms have been developed by the military to kill it's enemies in hand-to-hand combat. Nobody wants to send their children to study under a master who has killed 30+ people with his bare hands. So, what happens is that Hollywood types, with a flamboyant style, usually achieve the greatest success as martial arts instructors. As a result, real martial arts suffers. (And, it is very difficult to find a good teacher.)
Proceed with the utmost caution in this area.
