Unexplained Phenomenon

"LET ME GO!" Duo screamed as he twisted and threw the would-be killer off of him.

Nearby, Heero kicked another man in the groin, sending him to his knees in record time.

Duo gave his attacker a kick to the groin, then tossed what they'd come for to Heero.

"I got it." Heero said. "Let's get outta here."

As they raced down the corridor at top running speed, a volley of enemy fire followed them. As the rounded a corner to get to the exit, a beam of light flew by Duo, severing his braid just below the neck.

Heero heard the thud and turned to find Duo lying there on the hall floor... dead.
