Long ago, before the rule of the Peacecraft Empire, the universe was ruled by machines. Human beings grew complacent and apathetic. Then, they were enslaved by other people with better machines.

Years after that, came the great crusades in which people revolted against the machines. When these wars were over, people were forced to form their minds. Training schools were developed of which now only two remain, one is the Sisterhood, which has been established to carry on a selective breeding program. The other group, The Preventers, emphasizes a purely military lifestyle.

In the current year, the universe is ruled by Queen Relena Peacecraft, who rules over the Great Houses according to the ancient system of feudal government. Two of these are the House of Winner and the House of Yuy.

The House of Winner is ruled over by Duke Winner, with his bound concubine and their son, Quatre.

The House of Yuy is ruled over by Baron Yuy along with his nephews, Count Wufei and Heero Yuy.

In this year, the most powerful substance is a spice which only exists in one place in the universe...

The planet: Dune.
