Hiding The Pain (formerly "untitled Heero Rape Fic")
-----part 1-----
Duo finished off two Aries fighters then raced back to Heero's side.
"Miss me?" He asked, cheerfully.
Heero's response was to turn and aim his weapons in Duo's direction.
"EEP!" Duo yelped as Wing fired. The barrage converged, not on Shinigami, but on the Scorpio fighter behind Duo. "Thanks, handsome!"
Duo grinned. "Remind me to let you make passionate love to me when we
get home tonight."
"Omae o korosu." came the Wing pilot's muttered response.
"If I got out *that* way, I'll die happy." Duo laughed. He was about
to say something more when Shinigami suddenly fell into a spiral.
Wing was falling, too. Down, down, down. The two Gundams crashed.
Heero climbed out of the wreckage of his Gundam and looked around. He
spotted Shinigami and Duo lying, unconscious, amidst the wreckage.
"Duo.." he said. "Please, don't be dead." He found a pulse and lifted
Duo, carrying him back to the safehouse. He trudged across the
desert, growing more and more tired with each step until he could no
longer make it. Then, exhausted, he collapsed.
He awoke to find himself in a warm, cozy bed. Duo was nowhere in
sight. Concerned, he climbed out of the bed and headed for the door,
to look for him. That's when he noticed he was naked. Someone must've
wanted to repair his clothes.
The doorknob turned and Heero jumped back into bed, to cover himself.
He was a little surprised when Relena walked into the room. "Relena?"
"Oh, you're up." Relena smiled. "I'm glad. I hope you're not sore."
"A broken leg." Heero shrugged. "Nothing I can't handle. Where's Duo,
Relena?"
"He's in the next room." Relena told him as she removed her clothes
and slipped into bed with Heero. "Don't worry. He's sound asleep. The
doctors gave him a mild sedative to help him rest while he's healing.
He broke his arm."
Heero drew away from Relena. "Relena..." he shook his head. "I'm in
love with Duo. Please..."
Relena moved closer, covering Heero's body with her own. Heero wanted
to push her off, to defend himself. But Relena was unarmed and Heero
was suddenly experiencing flashbacks of that girl and her puppy. He
could not attack an unarmed girl, no matter what she was doing to
him.
Things happened quickly then. Heero felt himself penetrate Relena,
and heard himself scream in protest. He felt her body moving
against him, around him, felt his hips jerk upward as he
ejaculated. Then, he heard the two loud noises that signaled the
violent opening of the door and the two gunshots that followed.
Then, Heero was extricating himself from under Relena's lifeless body
and running into the corridor, no longer caring that he was naked,
arriving too late to catch the falling, lifeless body of Duo Maxwell
He stared at the gun that lay by the body of his fallen lover, at the
spent shell casing on the floor nearby. Duo had shot Relena, and one
of her guards had shot Duo.
Heero picked up Duo's gun, intending to use it on himself. But his
injuries and the deaths of Duo and Relena were too much for him and
he passed out.
"Heero?"
Heero opened his eyes. He was in a hospital with Quatre standing over
him. The blond pilot was dressed in black and it was clear he'd been
crying recently. Why? What had happened.
"Praise Allah." Quatre sniffled, sounding relieved and saddened at
the same time. "I was beginning to fear we'd lost you, too."
"Too?" Heero asked, then he remembered. Duo had been shot down by....
His mind flashed back to the battle.
Duo had been shot down and killed by Scorpio fighters. He frowned.
Something about that didn't sound right.
//It's just your mind refusing to accept that he's gone.// He told
himself.
"We lost Duo." Quatre confirmed. "He didn't make it. I'm sorry you
missed his funeral."
"How long was I unconscious?" Heero asked.
"Two months." Quatre replied. "A lot's happened since then. I'm sorry
about Duo, Heero. He meant a lot to all of us. I guess the war got
to him. That must be the reason he shot and killed Relena."
"What are you talking about?" Heero demanded. "Duo was shot down in
battle, same as me."
Quatre fell silent. Did Heero really not remember what had happened?
Perhaps the shock of watching Duo snap and kill Relena had been too
much for the Perfect Soldier and he'd blocked it out.
Quatre decided not to push the issue. Heero would remember when he
was ready.
"If you want, I'll take you to Duo's grave once you're recovered
enough to leave the hospital."
"Mm hm." Heero agreed, drifting back to sleep.
Quatre watched him until visiting hours were over. Then, the blond
pilot stood and quietly left the room.
-----part 2-----
"Arigato, Shinigami." Heero said, solemnly, as he looked down upon
the grave of his fallen companion and lover. "Ai shi...." a sob
threatened to escape his lips and he held it back. Even now, even
after the death of the boy he loved, Heero could not... would not...
let himself cry. "Duo." he whispered, turning from the grave and
walking back to the car.
He wondered what it was about Duo's death that nagged so painfully at
him. He had been Duo's lover, yes, but he felt as though there was
something else about it. He'd tried to recall the exact moment of
Duo's death in battle, when he'd come rescue Heero... but he couldn't
do it. It was as thought Duo hadn't died in battle at all. But Duo
was dead. There was denying it. It didn't make sense.
Quatre was sitting in the back of the Winner Family limo, waiting
patiently.
"I thought about joining you," he said, "but I sensed you needed to
speak to Duo alone."
"Nn." Heero muttered, falling back into his Perfect Soldier role. He
looked up at Quatre who was looking at him with concern and sympathy.
"WHAT?!" he barked.
Quatre flinched, but quickly composed himself. //You don't fool me
for a second,// he thought as he looked into Heero's eyes. //You're
in pain. You know what really happened and it's eating you up inside.
Some day, you're going to have to face the truth.//
Outwardly, knowing that Heero was not ready to confront what really
happened, he simply said. "If you ever need someone to talk to..."
then lapsed into silence.
