Marsh Pointe West was selected as the course of this month because of its first place rank in the 1999 Ultimate Design Challenge. It won the contest handily and deservingly so. It has a great layout and also features an interesting theme.

By far the most senic Kyle Bowen course thus far regaurdless of the fact that the course didn't truely flow with the background (it will be re-released with a new background). The scenery was aided by Kyle's great use of marsh. Marsh was found on all but 4 of the holes. It also took a few creative ideas like the approach to 17. A great par four with an approach over water. The bridge and small fence make the shot look good, but with the elevated green, and well placed bunkers surrounding it, the approach looks great.

Here is number 17's approach.

The course layout only challenged the golfer on a few holes but when it did, it really did. Take for example number 9. The tee shot has water all along the right side and a few bunkers the reach from approximately 240 yards from the tee to 265 yards from the tee. Playing this hole with extrem caution is a definate must.

This is number 9's tee shot.

The marsh that came into play was a brillant theme. It was worked into most of the holes very well. Just look at the picture below. It is the 2nd shot that is required to go over water on #9.

This is number 9's approach.

I highly recommend playing Marsh Pointe West (contest edition). It plays very fair, and is great for ideas as it offers plenty of creativity. It is a fun course to play because of the scenery and the fact that it is a rather easy course to score well on. I know that all who download Marsh Point West won't be disapointed.
