Mike's Opinion:

I didn't like the course. I really wanted to because of it's creativity and excitment, but I just didn't like it.

The course featured a lot of up and down. It had unrealistic hills, and featured odd mounds everywhere. I found that a few greens that were unhitable if you played in dry mode, and I did find a few unplayable shots, like at the bottom of #13's FW. The objects, and background didn't cut it for me either. The scenery was poor. There were a lot of shots were I saw choppy water, and or bunkers (like on the first hole). I think the idea was there, but it was overdone.

The plot was excellent, probably the best one Ben has ever done. I really enjoyed the creativity and smoothness of hole #7. It provides a tough risk reward situation, and shows the green off the tee. This just screams to the golfer, "go for it!" I also enjoyed the 16th hole. I thougth that it had the best looking shot on the course. Good work Ben, but it didn't work for me...

Joel's Opinion:

Ben has been working on the JNSE rendition of this course for quite some time now. It is a revision of an 8 year old course from JNUG (by Paul Warren) and I was eagerly anticipating the release of it. I was not disappointed.

The wild elevations on this course are gonna make people either love it or hate it. I loved it. The wild elevations, combined with tight fairways, and many bunkers made precision shotmaking a must. If you missed the fairway or green even by a few yards, you could roll into a very tough lie or a tough bunker. I thought that this was brilliant design. Even with the wild elevations, I never once found an unplayable lie. On #8 I hit the water on my approach and had to drop 26 yards from the pin in heavy rough. You get one try to get up to the pin, which I didn't make. Then, the slope is too tough and I had to chip into the fairway. Another piece of great designing.

My favourite hole on the course was #13. It is a fairly short par 5 (about 490 yards). The risk/reward situation here is awesome. If you can hit the green, you have a great chance for eagle. But if you miss (especially short), you will end up with a really high uphill shot and a good chance at bogey or worse.

The only thing I didn't like about this course was the scenery. I didn't care for the pallette and I thought that the trees were too dark. But the tough shots that this course forced me to make really made up for it.

I don't think you'll be disappointed by The Course.
