Emuria is a relatively earthlike planet in an otherwise unremarkable system. The inhabitants are relativlely standard humanoid-mammilian types, with nothing particualrily outstanding physically. Their history is also similar to that of humans, in that they were seperated into various groups that warred with each other for most of it. They didn't reach quite the extremes that humans did, and they were more willing to unify than humans ever were. They achieved spaceflight around the tail end of the 19th century, about 4 years after a rogue asteroid smashed into the local Vorlon-seeded jumpgate. The Vorlons decided not to replace it because they didn't want to risk being discovered. Thus, the Emurians spent a century colonizing their system without noticing the debrie from the jump gate. It turns out that Emuria lies only two light-years from its nearest neighbor, so a "fast" sub-light ship was launched in 1985 to travel to it and prove how advanced the Emurians were. It was capable of accelerating to 10% of the speed of light and slowing down again, so the journey took 20 years. When they arrived, they were amazed to discover an Orieni colony in the system. The Orieni made friendly overtures and soon the Emurians wanted to join up with what the Orieni said they did. The Orieni took them back to their system in only 2 days, which impressed the Emurians, and made overtures to the government on Emuria. It sounded good on paper, so they agreed to join the union. The Orieni planned on making them a full member, but the Centauri-Orieni war started before plans could really be set in place. Thus Emuria was abondoned by the Oreini in their first round of contractions, but not before they could get a good deal of technology out of them. Since then, Emuria has been expanding and in someways helping to rebuild the Orieni empire. They have 4 major colonies and have mutual defense pacts with two other former Oreini subjects. They initially started using Capital ships and HCVs as a cost saving measure, since motherships are expensive, and kept using them as they proved more effective for a smaller navy. They also have decided to go with the dedicated carrier route for the most part, partly due to wet naval heritage and lack of evidence to prove that battle-carriers are a better option. In the hundred years after the war, a large amount of Centauri technology passed through the area, including things such as Twin Arrays and Plasma Streamers. The source was assumed to be weak Centauri noble houses sending small fleets to attempt to establish a presence in the region, but getting raided and beaten by regional powers and raiders. This is the reason why Emurian ships have many Centauri systems, including an even cruder version of the artificial gravity found on Centauri ships.
