Home 2

This classic Tudor house, brick with stone facing and plaster and beam construction, was built in 1926. The beautiful home was originally located on Lucerne Drive, also in Palmer Woods, and was moved to its current location in 1932. It is believed to have been designed by distinguished architect C. Howard Crane. Decorative roses, lions and armor are carved into the stone facing.

An elegant, copper-roofed oriel window is centered above the deeply recessed entryway. Leaded glass windows and elaborate molded plaster ceilings are evident throughout the house. An interesting and unusual feature is the pecan, wood-paneled, octagonal foyer. This space is mirrored on the second floor by an octagonal, domed ceiling featuring a skylight over the stairwell.

The generously proportioned home encompasses 5,600 square feet, has six bedrooms, five baths, and more than 100 windows. The current owners appreciate ornately carved furniture and neutral colors. Accenting their home is their collection of Chinese vases, dolls and African-American art.
