2001 Palmer Woods Holiday Home Tour

Home 5

Considered one of the neighborhood's newer residences, this home ironically reached back three centuries for its architectural touchstones. A member of the eclectic vintage of homes built in Palmer Woods in the 1950s, this house represents the federalist style. Its center entrance is flanked by simplified classical structural elements: non-fluted columns with unadorned capitals support a lintel serving as the porch roof. Limestone sills and dentilated cornices highlight the symmetrical pattern of windows and front door. The exterior was recently restored to its original cinnamon hues.

An unusual collection of angels fashioned from a variety of materials greets visitors from room to room. Artwork from the Caribbean and the Far East is a featured highlight in the home. The owner's love of her home is reflected in her recent kitchen renovations, deck addition, and numerous exterior improvements.
