One must see this "diamond in the rough" that represents a departure from the usual Palmer Woods home tour offerings. Instead of the finished masterpieces seen elsewhere on our tour, this house represents an unvarnished canvass. Built in 1926, the home is distinguished as an early example of multi-generational living. But instead of a "granny flat," the older generation was provided an entire second floor that replicated the amenities of the first floor. Work commissioned by a Palmer Woods homeowner is currently underway to restore this home to its original grandeur. Here, one can witness historic preservation in action.
Pewabic tile in the foyer, leaded glass windows, crystal drawer pulls, French doors, "six and eight" interior panel doors, numerous fireplaces, antique light fixtures, and an exceptional upstairs ballroom await this reincarnation as a 21st century jewel in the hands of a new owner.
Trees in several rooms of this house will be decorated with holiday themes, courtesy of Palmer Woods neighbors and friends.
