Often the question comes up, in one form or another, �what does it mean to be saved? And how is one saved?� Jesus said (in John chapter 3) �you must be born from above� born of the Holy Spirit�; traditional Christianity teaches that this is achieved through trust and obedience (faith), baptism, and perseverance, in Christ.
St. Peter, in Acts 2 (38+42) replies �repent and be baptized� and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost� [then continue] steadfastly in the apostle�s doctrine (teachings), and fellowship (church), and in the breaking of bread (communion), and in prayers (vocal, meditative and contemplative prayer).
