Because of increased security around the State Capitol Building, I was fearful of placing the box on government property.  I didn't want to take the chance of having the box be found and then blown up by the bomb robot and then having the police come looking to arrest me...you can see where this is going.  Fortunately, Willamette University is right across the street, with ample room to hide a letterbox!  :)  If you follow my driving directions, however, you will get a nice view of the State Capitol Building!

Directions:

Coming from I-5 North or South, take exit #253, it should say "Willamette University" and/or "Hwy 22."  Follow all signs to Willamette University.  After you drive down the ramp onto 12th Street, continue straight, instead of turning left to go to Willamette University.

Turn left onto Court Street and to your left you will see the majestic Oregon State Capitol Building made out of marble.

Turn left onto Cottage Street, following the signs to Willamette University.

Turn left onto State Street.  Turn right onto Winter Street.  Park on the street, near the corner of State Street and Winter Street.
Directions to the Letterbox:

There is a red fire hydrant with a yellow top near the corner of Winter and State Streets.  Walking away from State Street, take the first path to your left that walks by some stairs.

With the stairs to your right, there is an Eastern getaway to your left.  Enter the gate.

Look for a comfy place to take a rest.  Behind this bench is a hiding spot.  In this hiding spot there is a board covering a painted window.  Your treasure is behind this board.

Note: This stamp is fairly large.  It will fit in a 4"x6" notebook, however, there will not be much room left for writing on that same page!!!
