We hope you had a fun and restful summer. We are very excited for the beginning of a new year of UMYF. Our first meeting will be Sept. 9 beginning with dinner from 5:00-5:30 followed by singing and fellowship until 7:00.
The youth leaders have already begun planning some of our activities for the coming year. These include the Children's Sabbath worship service, which is done by the youth, on Oct. 14. Our first fundraising dinner is scheduled for Nov. 11, perhaps with a Thanksgiving type of meal, and our annual pasta dinner will be Feb. 10, 2008.
One of the activities about which we are most excited is JesusQuest '08. We have lined up a nationally known speaker who we saw at SPLAT in July and who we think is a fantastic storyteller, comedian and multi-talented worship leader. Because he will be involved in the Saturday evening concert and our Sunday worship, we are expecting a much bigger JesusQuest this year. Portal has also agreed to provide the music as they have for the past 2 years. To avoid some of the conflicts we had last year, we moved the date of JesusQuest to March 29 and 30, 2008 and hope that this earlier date will work better for other groups who we hope can join us this year.
As you can see, we have a lot to look forward to, and we would be thrilled to have you be a part of our group this year. Bring a friend too!
