Ketchup to John: Nov 4th, 2001Today I'm off to Berkeley to confer with an artistwho I've commission to paint a portrait of the 1891BRENNAN HOUSE. She specializes in watercolor paintingsof old houses. I've collected all the old photographsI can find and will go over them with her at Brennan'srestaurant during lunch. She wants to take a fewphotos herself of the 110 year old structure. Mythinking is for the painting to take on the look andfeel of how it looked before my grandfather sold it in1970. Today most of the house is blocked from street viewbecause of tall foilage and newly planted trees. Itshould be a great addition for the family picturewall, especially now that it has been elected aBerkeley City Landmark. Sometime early next year abronze plaque will be affixed to the house tocommerate this honor. Hopefully my 84 year old unclewill still be around to join in the upcoming events. Then he could also contribute some oral history whichwill be welcomed too.
