Ketchup to John:

Nov 4th, 2001
Today I'm off to Berkeley to confer with an artist
who I've commission to paint a portrait of the 1891
BRENNAN HOUSE. She specializes in watercolor paintings
of old houses. I've collected all the old photographs
I can find and will go over them with her at Brennan's
restaurant during lunch. She wants to take a few
photos herself of the 110 year old structure. My
thinking is for the painting to take on the look and
feel of how it looked before my grandfather sold it in
1970.
Today most of the house is blocked from street view
because of tall foilage and newly planted trees. It
should be a great addition for the family picture
wall, especially now that it has been elected a
Berkeley City Landmark. Sometime early next year a
bronze plaque will be affixed to the house to
commerate this honor. Hopefully my 84 year old uncle
will still be around to join in the upcoming events.
Then he could also contribute some oral history which
will be welcomed too.
