Oven Chow Mein |
||
| 1/3 cup shoyu 1/3 cup oyster sauce 1/3 cup oil (half vegetable, half sesame oil) 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar 2 packages chop suey mix (if not available, use bean sprouts and Chinese greens) Green onions, chopped 1 onion Carrots and string beans, cut in slivers 1/2 lb charsiu, slivered or shredded chicken 3 lbs. chow mein (best from Chinese market, refrigerated section) Chinese parsley (Cilantro) Mix everything but the charsiu. Sprinkle charsiu or chicken on top and cover with foil. Bake 1/2 hour at 375 degrees. Garnish with sprigs of parsley. This is one of my favorite recipes for potlucks because it can be served at room temperature if necessary. Growing up, mom always made it for New Year's Day Celebrations. |
