Work

As I lay here in my bed,
Lots of things run through my head.
Like a job that I really don't want to go to.
Maybe I can pretend that I have the flu.

The way I am though, I'll get up.
Then go to work dragging my tail like a pup.
There are so many things I'd rather do,
Like staying at home and doing whatever I want to.

I've been working now around 30 years.
Sometimes I feel like I need a few beers,
To be able to hang in there when things get rough,
And to be able to tell them all, whoa, that's enough.

I've taken about all that I can take,
When I'd really rather be sitting at the lake.
Enjoying the wildlife and the view,
Maybe even spending time with my daughter and son, too.

For all the back stabbing and oneryness gets to be too much.
There are things like kindness, thoughtfulness and such.
If everyone just tried not to feel like they're #1.
We'd all have a lot more cooperation and get more work done.

Why is it that someone always has to feel more important than you?
Their work is no more important than what you do.
For everyone together has to get it all done.
Working with thoughtfulness and kindness can make it all more fun.

It's all of us working together that gets the job done.
We are to show everyone how life can be fun.
If we all work together and help each other,
And treat everyone how we'd treat our brother.
