SOUNDS
Have
you ever listened to the sounds in your house?
You
have to be still and quiet as a mouse.
If
you'll just take the time,
I
think you'll be surprised at what you'll find.
Like
the plink, plink, plink
Of
water dripping in the sink.
The
tick tock, tick tocks
Of
the kitchen and bedroom clocks.
All
the sounds that we don't usually hear
But
that children in bed at night fear.
Like
the floor that tends to creak and squeak,
That
has children covering their heads trying not to
peek.
There's
also the swish, swish, swash
Of
the clothes we're trying to wash.
The
swoosh as the furnace kicks into gear.
Noises
that in the light children don't fear.
But
when it's very late at night,
Strange
noises can give anyone a fright.
You'll
feel pretty silly in the morning when you hear,
All
the common place noises, that at night gave you
such
fear.
Then
you'll laugh at yourself when the day finally
comes,
And
at all the noises that last night had you undone.
We
all know that there is nothing to fear in the
house.
Nothing
at all to fear but fear itself.
