Squeal of Delight ~ "Owen"
registered half-Welsh gelding
I have always wanted a pony.  As a kid I quickly grew too tall to look right on ponies so while my friends rode Rootbeer and Rainbow, the bay ponies belonging to my trainer, I was left riding one of the larger horses.  There was nothing wrong with the horses, but I really wished for lessons on one of the ponies so when the instructor left the arena I often convinced one of my friends to switch horses with me so I could have a little pony time.

Luckily I have always been thin so later on, even as an adult, I was used as a pony-schooler for ponies refusing jumps or not getting their leads.  I never outgrew my desire to own one though, and in April of 2004 I purchased Squeal of Delight with the help of the Rayhawk family.  His old owner called him "Snort" but he told me his name is really Owen.

Owen can be seen above in a photo taken on the day he arrived, and the photo below is from about two weeks later.  He looks hairy and dirty, but beautiful anyway.
On the first warm and clear day I gave him a soapy bath, which he did not appreciate.  Silly white pony, he will have to get used to it!  I even scrubbed his feathers which I had planned to clip off but was met with so many protests from other people at the barn that I agreed to leave them.  I snipped off his whiskers and snipped out his ears (after attempting to use the electric clippers... unsuccessfully... we'll get there eventually).  I also evened up his tail a bit from where it had been chewed by yearlings.  See below for the finished product!
