| These are what I use along with a Netgear wireless router to get the signal to my house. The Cantenna on the left is home made while the antenna on the right is a Netgear product. The router is in my parents house and I have the cantenna connected to a wireless network card in my PC. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| DIRECWAY PROBLEMS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have the Direcway DW6000 modem. It is a two-way modem which means it does not require a dial-up connection as the older systems do. I am pretty happy with it. It is more expensive than dial-up but is much quicker. The only major problem with it is it doesn't work in bad weather which is a problem with anything that uses a satellite for transmitting and receiving signals, such as DirecTv or DishNetwork. Sometimes you may experience problems with the Direcway system but you can usually power cycle it (power it down and then back up) and it will be ok. I have experienced a problem with it during hot weather also. During the afternoon when the temperatures are in the 80's and 90's I will go to the System control center and see that the status of the system is "Degraded". I did not know why. I did some research and found that the problem may be in the Radio and LNB which is the part on the dish that sticks out. I thought I would give it a try and bought one on ebay. I swapped the unit out and it took care of my problem. Below is a picture of the unit I replaced. |
