I've got a new issue with Yahoo.
Keep in mind that I am legaly blind and using accessability software
Typicly each time Yahoo comes out with a new "Start Page" it is harder for me to navigate than the previous one. All of their "Improvements" make it harder and harder for me to use Yahoo! I am using magnification with speech, and by default, all of those flashy annimated gif advertisements draw my cursor to them as long as they are on the screen (Very Annoying).
I wanted to make the counter on my pages accessable to those of us who are using "accessability software". I made all kinds of inquiries, and essentially got no response. I finally removed the counter after finding that the only way I could do that was through PHP and thus would not be possible on a "Free Site".
(July 2008)
No improvement in the last 2 years, worse if anything!
Seldom use the Yahoo accoount anymore, as I believe they are lost without a clue!
About the only thing I use Yahoo for anymore, is forwarding interesting forwards to my primary email account.
The way Yahoo Mail neuters those, It's usually more trouble than it's worth.
After my last update in 2006, the new pages I added were no longer included in the Yahoo directory (I guess since I created them on my computer in Notepat rather than use their "bullshit" tool, they wouldn't link to the new pages although file names and extensions were identical.
Traffic fell off to the point that I pretty much gave up on the site. What's the point anyway??>br>
A lot of changes in the last 2 years. My custom Socket A PC died of acute chipset failure. The new Dell Optiplex (Intel Dual core Socket 775) from the VA is a piece of Crap, with a sorry OS, and miserable accessability software.
As flakey as Magic 8.0 made the old system, it was a lot more user friendly, and I had no significant problems reading content on a web page.
Microsoft rolled out their newest: "Vista". I'm sorry but XP is such a piece of crap, why would I expect anything different in their newest. I firmly believe their programmers are suffering from a severe case of "Opticrectalitis". Maybe just too full of ego to put anything better into their newest. Open source Linux, looks better all the time. Checked out the Ubuntu 7.1 release, and then the Linux Mint 4.0 release last fall. I think Mint offers a more complete package. I had problems with the accessability, but a newer ORCA release is built into the new Gnome Kernel. Supposed to support full screen magnification too. They use "bug reports" to address issues with the OS. The issues are addressed and then a patch or new release is made. They are doing an AWESOME job!
A lot of Issues I'd like to address here, and may just do that in the near future.
