John Wesley  1703-1791
1703:  John Wesley was born June17.
1709: Parsonage at Epworth burned; John Wesley was the last saved from the fire.
1714-1720:
Attended London�s Charterhouse School.
1721-1724:   Attended Christ Church College of Oxford University. Lived on 28 pounds a year, giving away all he did not need for clothing and  sustenance. Became proficient in reading Greek New Testament.
1725:   Began a diary in a red notebook that had belonged to his grandfather, a Puritan preacher. John used shorthand code that helped him to write fast and keep his intimate writings hidden from others. The code was not accurately decoded until 1972. John was  ordained a deacon and assisted his father in ministry at Epworth.
1726:   Elected to fellowship at Lincoln College, which gave him opportunity for further study, tutorial work, free room, dinners, and an annual stipend.
1728:   Ordained to the Anglican priesthood at Oxford.
1729:   Became leader of small group of Oxford students who met regularly for spiritual growth known as The Holy Club,� �Bible  Moths,� �Sacramentalists,� and �The Methodists.�
1735:
  Enlisted with Charles to be a missionary in Georgia.
1737:   First experienced Love Feast among Moravians. Romance with Sophia Hopkey.  Published A Collection of Psalms and Hymns, the first  English hymnbook published in America.  Left for England in December.
1738:   Attended prayer meeting at Aldersgate and had �heartwarming� experience
1739:
  Persuaded by George Whitefield to begin field preaching in Bristol.
1744: Riots against Methodists in Wednesbury
1751: Married Widow Mary Vazeille
1781: Death of wife, Mary
1788: Death of brother, Charles
1791:
