Why Don’t I Have Time
Why don’t I have time?
A question that is oh-so-commonly asked by those of us who have
Far too much occurring in our lives…
School. I just don’t have time for the aggravation called “school”!
How could I possibly have time for anything else with teachers
Breathing down my neck, a term paper that was due yesterday,
And a pop quiz in five minutes? All school leaves you with is
A mound of frizzy hair and a serious case of ghastly nerves…
Sports. I must do sports! But, where does the time come from?
All of my coaches are convinced that they are God and firmly
Insist that their sport is the most important thing in the cosmos.
Who has time to be the captain, principal dancer, figure skater,
Crime fighter…? Is it really worth it? Who knows… and who
Cares? All I know is that I’m late for practice for the 7th time
And Coach is giving me the evil eye from across the gym…
Housework. The one thing I most certainly dread. Cook breakfast,
Lunch, and dinner. Clean the bathroom, the kitchen, my room. I
Wonder, can’t anyone help me with this? Mom says, “Why, of
Course not dear; it’s your responsibility.” I guess that’s settled…
Life. So much to do all in one day…
Homework, practice, cooking, and cleaning.
I’m responsible to nearly every sport under
The sun, my parents, and all of my work.
It’s a wonder that I haven’t succumbed to stress yet.
I just got off practice, it’s time for dinner,
And I have 3 essays to write by tomorrow morning,
Or my grade meets the grave.
And guess what?
Now I’m realizing it’s time to go to sleep,
But I don’t have time for that either.
Why me…
