How do I prepare for this Critique Retreat?
You may read and receive feedback on your work as many as FIVE TIMES throughout the critiquing weekend.  You might decide to read successive chapters from a novel manuscript, works of nonfiction, essays, poetry, short stories, even journal entries.

PLEASE keep your reading time to approximately EIGHT MINUTES or less per session.  This allows for sufficient time to exchange concrete feedback and suggested direction.
FOR EXAMPLE...in any particular session, you might read on essay, two short chapters or three poems in the time allowed.

Although you will read each separately and receive feedback individually, please adhere to the allotted reading time -- a total of
EIGHT MINUTES per session.

This will keep the meeting moving and allow for each attendee
to have equal critiquing focus.
We will be alternating critiquing leaders, so you may decide to read a piece more than once to different groups or to read re-writes of what you have read and edited through the weekend.

Ultimately, the decision is
YOURS.  You may read as much or as little as you'd like.

You might consider bringing extra copies of your work for the critiquing leaders and other attendees to follow along while you read.  This is
RECOMMENDED as it invites written feedback on your work, as well as the verbal comments and suggestions you will receive.

There will be a
MAXIMUM of eight attendees in each group.
