Wednesday morning was her initial stimulation(July 19th). TRUST ME, it was not at all peaches and cream like Cierra's;) BUT, I have to remember, she is only 2 years old. She was scared to death that it would be loud. After her surgery, when we got home, Cierra put her(Cierra's) CI Coil on Kelcie and it made Kelcie burst into tears. Kelcie was not used to the sound that Cierra's CI provides, and this was unfortunate that it happened, because it gave Kelcie an eery preconceived idea of how the CI will sound. Needless to say, we only got 45 minutes of mapping. Then we went back in the afternoon and Lee Fabry was there to help and it went so much better. When we left that afternoon, she only had 3 channels mapped, and it was set conservatively quiet!
Then on Thursday, we went in again. She did ok, but kept making excuses to take a break, such as "I need to go potty", but then Uncle Trent came and that helped tremendously! We then got some good work done! She left that afternoon with all 22 channels mapped. In the mean-time, Dr. Shallop worked with Cierra and mapped her ESPrit 24 BTE(for the first time). It uses a different programming strategy, so we are just testing it to see how she likes it. We got 4 new maps on Kelcie and they tested her OAE's on her unimplanted ear, and the high frequency OAE's are gone, which they have always been there, so that was weird, but what is new!(Smile) The one good thing is that Kelcie does want her implant on and if the coil falls off, she says, "fall off". We will be going back in a month for both of the girls.
