Had to cut away some of the front frame and then jacked frame open to allow motor to fit (floorjack) Oil filter hangs slightly below bottom frame rails. A custom skid plate will have to be made.
Motor fits perfectly. Stock rear motor mount was used. Need to custom fabricate front mounts. A sprocket from a 1984 KX 250 has to be used to fit the seca spline and use a 520 chain.
A sproket from a kx dirt bike had to be used for a lower gear ratio. It fit it on the spline but had to bolt it to the original Seca sprocket to align with the rear sprocket
Here is the quad with tires on. The Seca seat and tires are only temporary so we can test ride it I will buy better tires later when complete
Here is the donor bike
Here's the quad mine has to beat, a 2003 KFX400, rider WickedKFX, also a member of Michigan Dirt Slingers!
New custom exhaust is now installed. Two stock KFX muffler were used.
Closeup of custom header pipes made out of stainless steel.
The Warrior 550 project is near completion. Have all the plastic and the seat. Will have to paint plastic as you can see.
Big motor for a small quad!
