| Subject: Still not been murdered Date: Fri, 28 Dec 2001 03:15:04 -0800 (PST) Hello, Hope you had a good christmas. Uzbekistahn has some beutiful cities. Samarkand and Bukhara are well worth visiting. My flight was diverted from Tashkent to Samarkand so straight to the holiday no messing around. I came out of the hotel and walked to Timur's Mausoleum. Now in Bukhara, so much to see... John ----------------------------- Sent: 30 April 2002 06:51 Subject: Off to China... Hi, Now have ticket and visa to China. I fly out next Tuesday (7th of May) arriving 3p.m. local time. I have no idea what that is in terms of GMT. Xianjing (the area) is on a local time of GMT+6, whereas China is on GMT+8. I'm going to travel around Xianjing, see Kashgar, Yarkand and Hotan. I'll then head to the centre to Xian to find the end of the Great Wall, Hong Kong then up to Beijing and train to Moscow through Mongolia. Talinn could be next after Moscow. The last week is passing nicely. Three more lessons with each class, twelve lessons in total. I think I'll get everything home. I'm sending some home and carrying the rest in my rucksack. The new teacher, Laurie, is here. I try not to smile too much when he's around. It feels really good to be leaving and heading off on holiday. John J Mehers 2005 |
