J Reports on 4/16/01:

Fished New Smyrna Beach/Mosquito Lagoon this weekend. Saw lots of spinner sharks, rays and some other unidentified splashes along the beach, beyond the surf. Some say that tarpon follow the spinner sharks. There wasn't much of a bite in the surf, unless you were a surfer at the inlet. Sharks got six during the week. Surf fishing usually turns on with the various migrations this time of year.

Fishing was better in the lagoon, despite windy conditions, we found redfish, trout and flounder from the north end of the lagoon and areas north toward Cedar Creek. Redfish were up and tailing in small schools and singles on shallow flats. Spooky fish. DOA shrimp got one.

Off to Bokeelia with Mrs. J this weekend.

That's all I have to say about that.
