This is a page about logic, logic and, of course, logic.  Sisyphus shows you how logic works!

My range of logical interests includes almost any other interesting topic, and my work touches themes from both mathematical and philosophical logic, and especially non-classical logics such as paraconsistent, many-valued and modal logics, as well as formal semantics to them, and combinations of logics.  I am engaged in investigating both the theoretical foundations and the applications of those logics and methods.  This way I can afford being semi-illiterate in several logical topics at once! ...sequitur quodlibet...

I am a man of 15 professions and 16 needs...  I am currently an associate professor at the Department of Informatics and Applied Mathematics (DIMAp), at the UFRN, in Brazil, and a full member of the Center for Logic and Computation (CLC), at the IST, in Portugal, where I have also been responsible for a few courses, in the recent past.  Until recently I have benefitted from an FCT scholarship, and just before that I held a CNPq doctoral grant at the Center for Logic, Epistemology and the History of Science Centro de Logica, Epistemologia e Historia da Ciencia (CLE) and IFCH, at UnicampUniversidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP, Brazil.  I am still a member of the Group for Theoretical and Applied Logic (GTAL), over there.  In 2001, I held a Dehousse doctoral grant and worked as a researcher at the Centre for Logic and Philosophy of ScienceCentrum voor Logica en Wetenschapsfilosofie, at UGentUniversity of Ghent, Belgium.  And before that, just after leaving my egg and deciding to really swamp into logic, I held a CAPES grant at Unicamp, which at some point took me for a longer stay at the Institut für Logik, Komplexität und Deduktionssysteme (ILKD) at the University of Karlsruhe, in Germany.  You see I have been travelling.

Every now and then I manage to have some fun doing research (check the links at the top).  And I never miss an opportunity to make some scientific-touristic trip and keep on collecting some new landscapes for my dreams!
