Chapter Two
Aiyren woke up in a warm, soft bed. She opened her eyes, and looked through the room.
“Where am I?” she whispered, rubbing over her eyes.
The door opened, and a young boy entered the room. He was like Aiyren’s age, and he had slightly curled hair that just growed over the top of his ears.
“Ah, you’re finally awake.” He said, and grabbed a chair, which he placed next to the bed. He sat down on the chair, with a tray on his lap.
“My name is Cletar. And you?” he asked.
She looked a bit surprised.
“I.. I don’t remember..” she startled, and looked down.
Cletar watched her silently.
“I don’t remember anything” she began. “Why am I here?”
“You fell from a rock, not far from here. You are very lucky, otherwise you’ve been dead. I found you when I walked by, and took you home.” He explained.
He put the tray on her lap, when she sat straight up, and she looked gratefully at him before she began to eat.
“The only thing we discovered about you is a mark on your left shoulder...” she pulled her sleeve up, and saw a sign of a 2, and a turned 7. The signs where in each other.
“It’s the sign of the country we’re living in; I can’t tell you more about it... ‘Cause that’s all I know.” He said.
The girl looked up.
“I remember something.. A name...” she pulled herself in a thinking-face, and then smiled at Cletar. “You can call me Aiyren. Yes, call me that.” And satisfied she ate the last piece of bread that was on her plate.
Cletar looked admiring at her.
“You’ve been unconscious for a long time... longer than any other accident or human..” he said to her softly.
“How long have I been unconscious then?” she asked curiously.
“Three months.” He said, and remained silent again.
“Three…?” Aiyren looked at him with big eyes. “But.. How did you know I was going to wake up today?”
He laughed to hear her question. “Not. I just came by and see if you woke up. And I always had a tray of food with me, just in case. And when you were not awake, I ate it myself. We did have to give you a medicine; otherwise you would have been dried out, and starved from the hunger.”
They talked for a while about several things, and then Cletar had to leave again. He had to help his mother with the things that had to be done inside, and outside, the house.
If only he closed the door..
“What did you say?” Aiyren heard a woman say. “Aiyren?”
“That’s what she told me!” Cletar said. “It’s the only thing she remembers...”
“O Goddess...” the woman mumbled. “It’s a Royal child! We HAVE to bring her back. I already heard something like this. And then her brother... That was terrible.”
“Her brother?” Cletar asked. “Did she have a bróther?”
“Yes.. It was even her twin brother! I must have been horrible for Sophen and Arian…”
“What are we going to do now? Take her home tomorrow?” Cletar asked with a sad tone in his voice. “She’s very nice, I’m going to miss her then..”
“We have to! It’s for the best. Arian and Sophen will be more than happy when they have they’re child back.” The woman said. “You’ll be bringing her, tomorrow when the sun is at his highest.”
“but…” Cletar started.
“Tomorrow!” the woman said loud. “And DON’T struggle against me!”
The voices faded away.
Aiyren, who followed the whole conversation, was now sitting on the edge of her bed.
“Goddess..” she whispered, and dropped herself on the bed.
~
“Aiyren” whispered Cletar in her ear. “Wake up, we have to go”
Aiyren opened her eyes. “Why..? And how late is it!?” she asked surly, because she was waked so abrupt.
“It’s ten o’clock, we have to go as soon as possible, and it’s a long end walking to where you live.” Now he got Aiyren’s attention. “We know who you are.”
Aiyren looked confused through the room. “b-but how…?” she startled.
“Because you remembered your name. You are the daughter of Arian and Sophen, King and Queen of this country.”
Aiyren stood up, and looked at Cletar. “That means..” she sighed.
“That you’re a princess. Yes.” Cletar finished the sentence for her. He walked at the wardrobe, and took her clothes, that she worn when shell fell, and put them in a backpack.
“We have to get out of here; otherwise we’ll never get there in time. You better dress yourself in the clean clothes my mother gave. I’ll be waiting outside.” And he walked away.
Aiyren quickly dressed herself. She was going back to her parents!
Her memories came back like the waves of the sea. Silent, gentle, but fast enough.
When she was standing next to Cletar, she remembered everything again.
When she gave him a big, honest smile, he looked a bit surprised at her, but then he smiled back.
~
The journey went effortlessly, and the whole way the talked, talked and talked.
Aiyren enjoyed they’re time together, and she was a bit sad when the Castle came in sight.
“We’re almost there..” Cletar said.
“Yes” Aiyren sighed. “I’ll miss our conversations,”
“Yeah. Me too” he said.
They walked into the city, and soon they were at the entrance of Menelnen. (Menelnen means Heavens Water)
They walked through the big hall, Cletar following Aiyren silently, impressed by the paintings, and all of the other old things he saw there.
Aiyren stopped.
“here it is..” and she pushed the door open.
