AKIRA
Review by Bill Rosser
Review: A fast paced, and action packed futuristic anime adventure. Wooh...what a long opening description. AKIRA is a cyberpunk adventure about a group of intercity kids who get wrapped up in a government conspiracy. I really loved this film. The storyline was great, the characters grew on you, and the ending left many things open for a sequel. Great fun, you should check it out.

Story: World War 3 has already ended, and Tokyo was destroyed. Now, in the ruins of the city, a new city has been built. This city is Neo-Tokyo, and its a festering hole of crime and violence. We get to meet Kaneda and Tetsuo, two troubled orphans who are in a biker gang. Tetsuo has some obvious emotional problems, as we get to see late ron in the film, and this leads up to his betrayal to Kaneda and the destruction of thier friendship. The movie goes from good action packed beginning to an equally action-packed ending. Its great, no wonder this is one of the top rated animation titles of all time.
