Apple Crumble

This is a quick-fix dessert. Some leftover apples in the fridge, and soon, I have a family favorite. There doesn't seem to be one particular kind of apple that works best... but if you have a sweet tooth, the sweeter the apple, the better you'll find this recipe. Tart apples, like Crabapples, work nicely, too. Just add a little more sugar, maybe a tablespoon or so, and it's very tasty. Serve it warm, just out of the oven, and add a helping of Vanilla Ice Cream with it... Mmmm... Gee... I think I'll get some ice cream now... Planning for supper, y'know... *grin*
Filling
  • 4 or 5 medium Apples, peeled and diced
  • teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup White Sugar
    Topping
  • 2/3 cup Flour
  • 2/3 cup Rolled Oats (not instant)
  • 2/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Margarine or Butter

Combine filling ingredients, put in a large glass baking dish. Combine topping ingredients in a separate bowl until slightly grainy (mixing with a fork works very well). Pour topping over filling. Pat down gently, but do not pack hard. Bake 30 minutes at 350 F. Let cool.
