Mourning Hours

We made each other laugh,
We made each other cry.
And now our years together
Are over with a sigh.

Our lives were so entwined
For lo so many years,
And suddenly you're gone,
As I brush away the tears.

I find myself alone
With no one to assist.
My time is all my own,
In the early morning mist.

I miss your loving smile,
And the way you looked at me.
But every little while,
I realize that I am free.

To make my own decisions,
And set about the task,
Of finding new beginnings,
In ways that may not last.

To dream about my future
With a very rosy view
Of what I'd like to do and be
And try my wings anew.

I'll always miss your loving face,
No matter where I go,
But now it's time to just be me
With no one saying "no"!
