What would happen if a whole fifth grade class were to visit the Land of Oz at the same time? Suspose the class is broken up into several groups and have to learn to work together in order to reach the Emerald City and Ozma in order to find their way home? Can they do it? Of course their teacher isn't with any of the groups. These students are from mixed economic backgrounds including rich, poor, and middle class. They have different national origins including Native Americans, Hispanic, Blacks, Orientals, Middle East, and Western Europe. They don't respect each other.

Of course they get to meet many of the cellaberties of Oz such as Dorothy, Toto, the Wizard, the Hungry Tiger, the Cowardly Lion, Ozma, the Tin Woodman, and many more. They visit many parts of Oz, including the Bubble Gum Geyser. They find out what kinds of kites are flying from Kite Island.

How did the class get to the Land of Oz? Why were they sent to Oz? Will everyone get out of trouble? Will they get back home and by what method? How would students that always want to act grownup react to having a chance to put on clown makeup? You will have to read the book to find out the answers to these questions.
