Samuel McClintock

BORN:  ca. 1728
DIED:    1806

FATHER:    Unknown
MOTHER:  Unknown

MARRIED: Elizabeth Bird

Samuel, our Patriarch and Revolutionary War Vet was a private in Captain Paul Raulston's Militia Company, in the Western District of Brandywine Hundred in New Castle County, Delaware as of March 7, 1778 being 50 years of age and upwards.  His convictions must have been strong to have gone into a revolution at such an age.  Two of Samuel's sons, Thomas and William were also in the Revolution with him.

The family lore that was passed down is that after George Washington's defeat at Brandywine our Samuel showed George the safest route through the forest due to his familiarity with it.  Samuel was a cooper and used the wood from that forest for his barrel staves.

In 1760 Samuel bought 320 acres of farm land in the Brandywine Hundred area of Delaware.  This land today belongs to the Duponts.  Click HERE to go to a Delaware map showing the Brandywine Hundred area.
