GAME #1 DUFOUR: 18 FAIRVIEW: 3
J.L. DUFOUR SOFTBALL
GAME #2 DUFOUR: 18 FAIRVIEW: 3
Dufour was out to prove that the early season loss to Fairview was just a fluke. By outscoring their opponents by 30 runs (15 each game), that mission was accomplished. The offence was certainly grooving, but what was very impressive on this night was the defence. Holding the opposition to only 6 runs in two games of softball is quite a feat. Of concern to the Dufour team is the lack of regular players showing up for games. The GM was on the phone to an embarrassing number of people trying to field a full team. At last some guy in the deep, deep farm system (who just last week tripped on his way to catching a fly ball and ended up getting it square in the face for 16 stitches) agreed to play. Welcher missed the game as he pulled up lame while striking for his future (at the very least you shouldnt be allowed to wear Aliant rain suits in the rain while on strike) The celebs from the golf tournament returned to action. Well 2 didthe other one had to attend a court hearing regarding some sort of driving infraction. To no ones surprise, yet another horseshoe was pulled and he got off scott-free One final note, big Dobber deserves some recognition for his play of late. Last week it was his fielding, this week it was his bat. The 6 foot 6, 260 pounder seems to have found his grove at the plate going 4 for 5 and a hitting in a career high 6 RBIs. The fact that he doesnt understand how he got an RBI for flying out should be overlooked Next week is Olands. No reason why the squad cant make it 8 wins in a rowon a collision course with Whiteys team #43 out.
