| That was Olands? Yikes. A short-staffed Dufour squad narrowly averted a disaster: losing for the first time in its history to the Frenchy Cape Bretoners. With only 2.5 outfielders (Welcher decided to go on strike in support of better field conditions) Olands found the holes time and again and scored a record 29 runs. Defensively, an area in which Dufour usually shines very bright, was, well lets just say not so bright. With memories of coconut bikinis knocking in the wind, Darryl ladies this ride is closed Maunder struggled a wee bit at first base, in more than one sense. The usually very personable Maunder failed to make a connection with the surly shortstop of Olands. Wouldnt even look at me, the dejected Maunder would later say. Indeed, without the assistance of an interpreter, conversation with this group is near impossible Offensively, the results hit both ends of the spectrum. On one end Nopy and his new bat went 9 for 10 with 9 runs scored, 1 dinger and 9 ribeyes. Tied for the other end of the spectrum were both Mundles and Alex who went a combined 1 for 16 (ask them who got the 1). Alex is apparently taking this strike thing into all areas of his life. And homebuilder Dufour wanted to keep his 500 average for the evening and did this by walking 4 times! The surly shortstop did not think highly of this Well either Olands got really good over the winter, or Dufour just had an uncharacteristically bad night. As the season goes on, this quandary will be solved #43 out. |
