G A M E S U M M A R Y Versus: STEEL KINGS Wednesday, May 26
GAME #1 DUFOUR: 21 STEEL KINGS: 4
Cold. Wet. Dufour came out strong in their first game of the year. Although early on it didnt look too good. Paul Flemming, usually rock solid on the 3 bag, bobbled an easy pop-up paving the way for a Steel King 4-run inning. Paul would later redeem himself by catching a tough fly ball, but ruined the moment by celebrating like he scored the winning goal in boot hockey. Incidentally, those 4 runs scored by the Steel Kings were the only runs they scored in the entire first game. Otherwise in the field, for a first outing, Dufour was quite impressive. Some nice plays at first by Mundles and Clance, and some nice double plays turned by Nopy and Reider. As usual, the outfielders were solid and error-free, except for Welcher who had trouble catching fly balls with a glove on one hand and a picket in the other. At the plate, some great performances were turned in highlighted by Hot Tub Dobson who at the end of game #1 was sitting on the cusp of a perfect game. A few hard come-backers to the pitcher ended this streak in game #2, but the foundation is laid for a career year. At the other end of the spectrum, soon-to-be-daddy Munden missed his Chance to start the year off right at the plate. Mundles went down swinging for the first time in his career (in Dannys defense, that pitcher was throwing the ball pretty fast last night). 39 runs in the first outing of the year is not too shabby. A great start boys. 28-0? Why the hell not??? #43 out.
