| That was the best defensive game ever played by a Dufour team, said #10, referring to game #1 against the Scramblers in which Dufour won 5-4. That was the worst offensive game ever played by a Dufour team, said #43, referring to game #2 against the Scramblers in which Dufour lost 9-2. This night tested the theory that defense wins games. Well, obviously not every game.take that, New Jersey Devils. Indeed, game #1 was a showcase of defensive gems, highlighted by multiple diving catches from #24 in left, one running stab by #43 in right, a horizontal leap from #11 at short and a fantastic snag by #6 at third. All of these were much to the chagrin of the Scramblers who oooed and ahhhed at the amazing plays. On the other side, Dufour struggled BIG time at the plate. In 14 innings of baseball, Dufour managed to score only 7 runs. This normally is not enough to win even one game. Heres some depressing numbers from the scoresheet (which had so many zeros even a very happy school girl would get tired filling in the happy faces the zeros also prompt a memory of a famous quote from an unforgettable RJH teacher Thats right nothing. And nothing from nothing leaves what Martin? Correct, nothing. Now, name on the board, under Beckys): only 5 batters had multiple-hit nights, 4 batters went hitless, the team combined for a total of 15 hits and a team average of .288. Kudos to #10 for going three for three. A two-week layoff could be to blame, but the bats must return by the start of September, or an early exit from the playoffs is possible. Bring the game for Saturday #43 out. |
