GAME #1 DUFOUR: 25 PARKDALE PUB: 18
GAME #2 DUFOUR: 26 PARKDALE PUB: 17
Dufour came out swinging on this night and a short-staffed Parkdale Pub squad was the victim. Offence was not a problem for either team on this night as they combined for a whopping 86 runs. For Dufour, it might have been a record-setting night: the team had 66 hits on 91 at bats for a combined average of .725. Thats pretty impressive. A couple of positive notes from last night: In his sophomore season, big Dobber finally seemed to be grooving his swings, going 6 for 7 with 5 RBIs reminiscent of his Junior High School days when he was always First Captain, First Pick. Great work Dobber, now if we can work a bit on the moon throws back to the pitcher One other note, and maybe some people didnt even notice it. In the second game, the score was close. Dufour had 4 runs in with two outs. Clancey on first, Darryl on third, Travis at the plate. Travis hits a line shot to the shortstop and Clancey slides in under the tag and is safe at second. Darryl scores and the fifth run counts. Its these little plays that could make or break our current winning streak. Great hustle #10. Oh and Monster Maunder batted a thousandagain! The batting was the good news. The defensive side of the game...not so good. The streak wont last much longer if Dufour doesnt tighten up quite a bit in the field. In other news, Davey I Dream of Sammy Marcattili has been suspended after it was learned the cleats he was wearing when he hit his first-ever home run were corked. Evidently, Marcattili read in a recent medical magazine, written by Chinese scientists, that vertically challenged baseball players can improve their hitting distance by adding height. And one of the best ways to achieve height is to place some form-fitted cork board in the sole of the cleats. As Marcattili was walking past the opponents bench after the game, one of his cleats fell out of his bag and the cork he used for lifting was exposed. When confronted with the news Marcattili said I have two pairs of cleats. One I use when Im walking by the opposing bench to look more intimidating - thats the lifting pair, and the other pair are normal. I just grabbed the wrong cleats. His suspension length is pending #43 out.
