G A M E S U M M A R Y Versus: STEEL KINGS Thursday, August 8
GAME #1 DUFOUR: 14 STEEL KINGS: 8
GAME #2 DUFOUR: 14 STEEL KINGS: 5
Interesting night at the field this fine Thursday evening. Two more wins seems to be the teams new motto, and losing as of late just doesn't appear to be part of the vocabulary. I can only say that overconfidence should not be found in that vocab because with our track record in the playoffs we should still be taking every game seriously. 22 and 2 and virtually another lock on the league championship doesn't seem to have the boys to excited yet...eyes on the bigger prize I suppose. Anyway... only one notable exception on this night. Catcher Tom Dobson had an old friend over for dinner. Craig Isley was quoted as saying the veal was great, red wine supurb, and dinner music relaxing...I wonder what the girls did?? Highlights from the twin bill are as follows....... (# 5) Two more jacks by second baseman Jamie Reid. At one time a great base hitter this star has adopted more of an uppercut swing that seems to be serving him well. Dufour management has also reported we may see him for the playoffs as well. (# 4) First baseman K's...Yup! yours truly watched strike number three go illegally into the atmosphere, and fall three feet deep. Still bitter ya think!! (# 3) Weatherston goes deep, and then flies out trying it the rest of the night. Props to Scotty, first dinger at the Mainlands...way to go!! (# 2) Another league title (tentative). Doesn't have to be what we are looking for, but don't ever turn your noses up at 26 and 2, yeah I said it 26 and 2.. Excellent season I say!!! (# 1) Call the Cops!!! Colin Piccott, while subbing for someone who may not have made the catch, totally robbed the Steel Kings bomber of what should have been a sure tater. Piccott hauled the ball back into fair play and into his mit, then he proceeded to prance around with his arms afloat screaming like an eight year old school girl. Scramblers next....nothing less than both........................10 out!!
