GAME #2

DUFOUR:

Top of 7.  Down one run.  Tying run on third.  One out.  Back to back infield pop-ups to end the game.  Not exactly a storyline that Hollywood would embrace.  Game #2 was a game that should have, at the very least, gone to the bottom half of the inning.  The blame must never rest with the guys that screwed up last (the Double Dave's), because it took blunders and mis-hits from the entire team to get us to that point in the game.  24 games left might seem like a lot, but Simon's team has already posted 4 wins.  We have to bring our game each and every night from here on out!!!

Some positives from the game:

Rookie sensation Paul Flemming made his Mainland Commons debut last night and looked right at home on third base.  Word will quickly spread throughout the league to keep the ball away from the left side of the infield.  At times the rookie seemed a little nervous, popping up the ball a few times and he even once called for a hog-line violation on one of the Daylight players.  And despite taking a hot shot to the family jewels, Paul did well and will be a welcomed addition to the Dufour team.

Darryl Maunder, finally getting his coveted #20, joined the team and looked very comfortable in centre field.  Maybe a bit too much golf this past week has affected his swing, as he was a good chip and a putt away from a home run on this night.

Scotty Trav also made his season debut, although he refuses to play again until the first base coach is changed and the temperature rises to above 6 degrees.

We are in this league to win boys, so let's start fresh in June.  We play 4 double-headers in June, and I am setting a goal of achieving a record of 6-2 in those games.  We can do it!
