G A M E S U M M A R Y Versus: SCRAMBLERS Thursday, May 24
GAME #1 DUFOUR: 10 SCRAMBLERS: 11
GAME #2 DUFOUR: 6 SCRAMBLERS: 10
First game jitters? Still jet-lagged from Cuba? Whatever the reasons, it was just plain UUUUGLYYY! The first game actually started quite good for the Dufour squad, jumping out to a 10-3 lead early. But the bats turned colder than a 7:00 am practice at the Devonshire in February, and we failed to score another run in the game. Credit the Scramblers for some solid hitting and cleaning up their follies in the field that plagued them early in the first game. Yes, batting was a problem with the majority of our outs being easy pop-ups. But many errors were also made in the field. This is uncharacteristic of our team! We all know how important the regular season is, and we must finish high in the standings. There is no need to push the panic button now, but a trip to Atlantic Playland for some BP wouldn't hurt a few of us. WHERE WAS THE BEER???? On the up-side, we were missing a few key players and we probably would've taken the first game with 4 outfielders. Rookie sensation Darryl Maunder continued to sit out, citing that he would never play another game until his number is changed to 20. Sometimes the game has to be about the love Darryl. The team is still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the highly touted new recruit Paul Flemming. Paul is trying to work on a deal with the team that requires each member to eat fish and chips at least once each week. And we were also without Slammin' Scott Travis. Trav is reportedly waiting for a new deal, based on his three HRs in one game last year - something that has never before been done in this league. To management, I say pay whatever this guy wants! No need to get worked up yet boys. It's a long season. But we've got a HUGE test on Thursday against Daylight. Let's regroup, get back to playing our game, hit singles - not pop flys, and we should find ourselves near the top of the standings (where we belong) in no time.
